On March 20, 2019 at approximately 12:40 p.m. deputies from the Jackson County office of the sheriff were dispatched to the 14000 block of Territorial Road in Waterloo Township in response to a farming accident. Upon arrival at the scene it was determined that a man was working around a piece of farm machinery and became caught in an auger. Stockbridge rescue responded but the injuries were too severe for treatment.

Detectives from the sheriff’s office say that early indications show the man was working on a manure spreader when he became tangled in the auger. “This tragic accident is a reminder of the dangers of farming, and in particular working around farming implements,” said Sheriff Steve Rand in a press release.
