Brooklyn American Legion opens doors as warming center

on

Phil Krauss, left, and Jodi Wilbur are welcoming residents to come in out of the cold at the Wilber-Bartlett Post #315 in Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn American Legion is being opened as a warming center for residents on Wednesday, Jan. 30 and Thursday, Jan. 31, note officials. Free coffee, cocoa and soup will be available.

With temperatures not expected to reach zero today, it might be good to know that there is a place that will welcome residents and provide shelter if necessary.

The legion’ hours are 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. It is located at 211 Chicago St. in Brooklyn. For more information, call 592-6534.

Residents are being asked to be especially careful the next two days, as the sub-zero temperatures are deadly, and can overcome people quickly.
