Sheriff Steve Rand reports on Wednesday April 24, 2019 at 7:46 p.m., Deputies responded to US 127 South, just north of McDevitt Avenue in Summit Township for a traffic crash.

Witnesses observed a black Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed north on US-127. The driver lost control, striking the guardrail. The only occupant on the motorcycle, a 61 year old Columbia Township man, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, and both speed and alcohol are believed to be a factor. The investigation into this crash are ongoing.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Summit Township Fire Department, Addison Township Fire Department, Jackson Community Ambulance, and the Michigan State Police.
