Brooklyn, Waterloo and Blissfield events this weekend

It’s looking like a busy weekend for our local communities this coming weekend!

Pioneer Day at Waterloo Farmhouse, Dewey School

The Waterloo Area Historical Society is hosting Pioneer Day Sunday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This annual celebration of late 19th-century farm life includes tours of the farmhouse and Dewey School, demonstrations of crafts, trades, and traditional cooking methods, flower barn, farm wagon, live music and vendors.

Walk-in Open House at Blissfield Model Railroad Club

The Blissfield Model Railroad Club, in Blissfield, Mich., is hosting a 30-minute Layout Tour (reservation only) event on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and walk-in Open House on Sunday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission at both events.

Reservations for Saturday may be made by visiting their website at www.bmrr.org, click on the reservation link on the front page.

Railroad displays will include large HO scale models of the Chesapeake & Ohio and Clinchfield railroads in Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, Virginia, and Tennessee. The railroad has 3000 feet of mainline track and about 3000 feet of yard track, 19 towns, and 52 industries. The Port of Toledo and Armco Steel at Ashland, Ky., are included. six to eight trains are normally running during these events.

Model railroaders, train enthusiasts, railfans, seniors, kids, and everyone else is welcomed to attend this event.

Club membership is open, and anyone interested in joining may talk to a member during their visit to these events.

The Blissfield Model Railroad Club is located about 20 miles northwest of Toledo, OH on U.S. 223, 109 E. Adrian St. (US 223), Adrian. Look for the big steam engine sign on the north side of the highway.

Pumpkin Quest 2021

Saturday, October 9, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Pumpkin give-away with a donation to The Brooklyn Food Pantry. One pumpkin per child. Must be present.

Pumpkin Toss $1 is located by Angels Flowers. Proceeds go to The Brooklyn Food Pantry

Costume Parade at 12:30 p.m. (Meet at Savanna Rose Dance Studio)

Also featuring; cider and donuts, hot dogs, popcorn, caramel apple making, food truck, face painting, Aunty B Clown Balloon Art, hair art, free games and crafts, hayrides, make and take scarecrows, and cornhole tournament hosted by the Kiwanis.
